Den Freitag gastgibt der Plattenladen in der Marktstraße, wo man schnell von Soul zu HipHop, Jazz, Afrobeat,
Disko und iranischem Funk kommt – GROOVE CITY!
TEENAGE KICKS präsentiert nebst den hauseigenen Shmuddltunes HOLA GHOST (die Gruppe mit der verhexten
mexikanischen Drummachine) und THE BEASTS (im Hinterkopf: The Trashmen und The Who); am Samstag!

Konzert: A SUNNY DAY IN GLASGOW (US-Philadelphia)

A Sunny Day in Glasgow began as a collaboration between friends Ben Daniels and Ever Nalens, both of whom
had recently returned to Philadelphia after several years in the UK. The band name came from Nalens,
who had been living in Glasgow, and Daniels kept it after Nalens left the project. In 2006, Daniels asked his
twin sisters, Robin and Lauren, to start singing on the songs they had been working on. In March of that year
the trio self-released The Sunniest Day Ever EP to great acclaim from college radio stations and blogs.
Their debut release, Scribble Mural Comic Journal, came out February 2007 and received favorable reviews
from Pitchfork and Drowned in Sound among others.
Scribble Mural Comic Journal was recorded with one microphone in a bedroom in West Philly and pushed the
boundaries of dream pop often drawing comparisons to My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins. During
the summer of 2007 the band toured the United States including in-studios on KEXP and Radio K and released
a handmade tour only EP titled Tout New Age which was subsequently released as a digitally only EP. A year
later the band emerged for a performance at the Whitney Museum as part of the Wordless Music Series and
an in-studio performance on WNYC. A month later they toured across the UK and France which was celebrated
with a string of 7"s coming out labels as varied as Slumberland, Disjuncture and Georgraphic North. Shortly
following their tour, Ruined Potential released SMCJ in a limited edition on 180 gram double vinyl. Though only
playing a few shows stateside after their European tour the band shared the stage with such luminaries as
Telepathe, M83 and Asobi Seksu. During the fall of 2008 the group - now comprised of guitarist/drummer
Josh Meakim and cellist/vocalist Annie Fredrickson - assembled in a dance studio space in rural New Jersey to
record their sophomore album. Their new album, Ashes Grammar, expands on the dream pop themes of SMCJ
and finds the band experimenting with recording techniques a la Alvin Lucier.
Ashes Grammar has been released worldwide on Mis Ojos Discos on September 15, 2009 and is available on a cd,
as a download and on a limited edition double vinyl. A new EP called Nitetime Rainbows is due February 23, 2010
on iTunes and March 2, 2010 on limited edition clear vinyl 12″.

Rock'n Roll, smoking six guns, revolution, death and sexy senioritas…
The danish two piece rock act HOLA GHOST and their haunted drum machine release their second album "The Man
They Couldn't Hang". The album will be out on US-Label Smelvis Records this fall!
The members are: Guitar and vox: Hola Pete 1 (ex. NEKROMANTIX and MAD SIN) Bass: J.B.J. Drums: Ghost 707.
HOLA GHOST is a two pice ROCK band, inspired by surf music, mexican folklore, dark disco, psychobilly, B-western
movies and what else is out there worth listening to. Overdrive bass intwined with surf guitars and rock'n roll riffs
in the face, while the vocal is singing, screaming and crooning its way through songs about B-movie heroes, howling
wolves, revenge, hope, and love to alligator girls.
On stage HOLA GHOST is a barrel of dynamite, egnited by a cigar butt. Dressed in sombreros, marriachi jackets,
bullet belts and bandanas, the two urban guerillas are on the hunt for justice, beauty and ROCK'N ROLL! Driving the
band along with psychotic flamencore rythms and pumping surf beats, the drum machine adds a strange disco
flavour with its characteristic 1980' ies sound and superhuman drum play. This makes HOLA GHOST sound like no
other acts around!
- Biografie:
HOLA GHOST was formed, during the work with the soundtrack for LA bound artist Gris Grimlys' debut movie
"Cannibal Flesh Riot". At this time the duo didn't have a drummer, so when they saw a good offer on a drum machine
in a pawnshop in LA, they went for it. The old Mexican owner had won the machine in a tequila-soaked poker game
in Tijuana, and claimed it was haunted! While working with the first album the rythms started to seem colored by the
machines Mexican origin. And when a drum solo was programmed, it was obvious that the drum machine had soul!
The machine was named Ghost 707, Hola Ghost have since developed their own sound and show. With the insane drum-
solo as one of the highlights the trio has playied around the world.
The new album "The Man They Couldn't Hang" will be out on US-label Smelvis Records this fall.

The Beasts sind eine Band bei der man schon nach der ersten Nummer laut Yeah schreien möchte. Und dann nach der
zweiten tut man es auch.
Die Beasts spielen seit einem Jahrzehnt ihren schmutzigen Raw, Surf und Garagen Rock'n'Roll, ey!
Fazit: Sehr empfehlenswert!
