„Nicht mit Commander!" (auf keinen Fall)
Diese Woche wird nicht gelacht. Es wird Zeit, der Realität in ihr
blutunterlaufenes Auge zu blicken. Voilà!
Das scheißeste ist, dass man keine Ahnung hat, wer für das alles
verantwortlich ist. Die Gemüsehysterie zieht hierzulande
glücklicherweise inzwischen ihre Kreise dergestalt, dass eigentlich
nur noch Wahnsinnige ihr Opfer werden können. Neulich in der S-Bahn
verriet eine Hausfrau ihrer Freundin, dass sie wegen der Ehec-Viren
(…) ihr Gemüse jetzt immer mit Kaliumpermanganat wasche. Das
desfiziere. Leider eine wahre Geschichte… Um die Dimensionen mal zu
verdeutlichen: Das Zeug ist giftig und wird an Privatpersonen nur in
kleinen Mengen verkauft. Dabei muss man seine Personalien abgeben und
ein Formular ausfüllen, wozu man das Pulver (mit dem man auch
Sprengstoff herstellen kann) benötige. Ansage der Hausfrau: „Ich sag
immer zum Gemüse waschen." Abgesehen vom möglichen
Räumkommando-Besuch hat die Substanz noch andere Nebeneffekte: Das
Waschwasser färbt sich lila, die Haut des Putzers verfärbt sich ebenso
wie Schnittkanten im Gemüse braun (lässt sich nicht abwaschen), die
Brühe ist alles mögliche nur nicht umweltfreundlich und ausserdem ist
der Verzehr von Kaliumpermanganat zu vermeiden – man spült sich also
einen Wolf. Aber Hauptsache der Dreck ist tot. Dem diametral entgegen
steht wieder einmal das Motto für die kommende Woche im Hafenklang, wo
man sich mit gesundheitsverändernden Getränken (beide Richtungen sind
möglich) das letzte bisschen Resthemmung anfeuchten kann um es dann

Lemuria (USA - Bridge Nine) - Cheap Girls (USA)

Lemuria's sweet sounding post-punk with pop sensibilities is unlike
anything out there right now and for that reason, along with the
band's stellar and hard-working track record, is why Bridge Nine
Records is excited to welcome them to the roster. Label owner Chris
Wrenn said, "It's important for us to have a diverse roster of artists
and we feel like Lemuria compliments a lot of our other bands while
standing strong on their own accord. We've had Get Better in rotation
in the office here for a while and after adding two hardcore bands to
our roster, Mother of Mercy and Foundation, we decided to change it up
a bit and sign Lemuria. I think our roster really mirrors our
collective musical tastes and it's always exciting to expand on the
types of music we release." Formed in the summer of 2004, Buffalo's
Lemuria has garnered quite a bit of attention thus far in their
career. The band has released a myriad of splits and 7"s (drummer Alex
Kerns runs the label Art Of The Underground) and one full-length LP,
Get Better, on Asian Man Records in 2008 that Punknews.org called the
best debut full-length of the year. This July, Lemuria will hit the
studio with producer J Robbins at the Magpie Cage in Baltimore, MD
(Hey Mercedes, The Promise Ring, Jawbreaker) to record their
yet-to-be-titled Bridge Nine debut. Drummer Alex Kerns said, "We are
so proud to announce that Bridge Nine will be releasing our second
full-length album. B9 is a family of great bands and great people and
we are honored to be welcomed aboard. We can't wait to get started
recording this July with J Robbins from Jawbox right after we wrap up
a full US tour."
